جائزة “سيمور هيرش” لأفضل تحقيق استقصائي لعام 2010

تعلن شبكة إعلاميون من أجل صحافة استقصائية عربية (أريج) عن فتح باب الترشيح لجائزة سيمور هيرش لأفضل تحقيق صحفي استقصائي لعام 2010 بالتعاون مع المركز الدولي للصحافيين ICFJ  (www.icfj.org (ومقره واشنطن.  الفئات التي تنطبق عليها الجائزة هي فئة الصحافة المكتوبة، المسموعة والمرئية في دول انتشار الشبكة: مصر، الأردن، سورية، لبنان، البحرين، العراق، اليمن، فلسطين، المغرب، الجزائر وتونس.

تقرر ربط جائزة هذا العام الحالي بالصحافي الأمريكي المخضرم سيمور هيرش  Seymour Hersh في إطار تكريم إنجازاته وتفانيه في تطوير صحافة الاستقصاء من حرب فيتنام قبل أربعة عقود إلى غزو العراق عام 2003.

ستوزع الجوائز خلال حفل عشاء خاص في اليوم الأخير من مؤتمر عربي بأبعاد دولية يشارك به زهاء 200 صحافي استقصائي من حول العالم الذي ستستضيفه شبكة (أريج) في العاصمة الأردنية بين 26 إلى 28 تشرين ثاني نوفمبر القادم.

في العام الماضي، فاز بجوائز أريج الزميلة مجدولين علان من الأردن في فئة الصحافة المكتوبة، الزميلة منى عراقي في فئة المرئي، الزميل محمود السعيد في فئة المسموع والزميلان هشام علام ودارين فرغلي من مصر عن الفئة الخاصة لأفضل تحقيق استقصائي في مجال البيئة.

قواعد الاشتراك في المسابقة:

• يحق للصحافيين والصحافيات من الأردن، سوريه، لبنان، مصر، البحرين، العراق، اليمن، فلسطين، المغرب، الجزائر وتونس ممن تعاونوا أو لم يتعاونوا مع شبكة أريج الاشتراك في هذه المسابقة.
• يجب أن يكون العمل المشارك تحقيقا صحافيا باللغة العربية أو الانجليزية، ونشر بين 31/10/2009 و31/10/2010 في أي صحيفة، مجلة، تلفزيون وراديو داخل هذه الدول. ويحق أيضا دخول المنافسة بأي تحقيق جديد لم يجد طريقه للنشر بعد.
• يمكن لآي صحافي/صحافية خوض المسابقة بتحقيق منشور في إحدى الصحف العربية الصادرة في بريطانيا مثل “الحياة” و”القدس العربي” و”الشرق الأوسط”.
• للصحافي المشارك حرية اختيار موضوع التحقيق. ولكن يجب أن يكتسب الموضوع أهمية بالنسبة للمجتمع المحلي وأن يكون توثيقا للقضية مثار البحث.
• آخر موعد لاستلام طلبات المشاركة هو 31/10/2010
• يكون قرار لجنة التحكيم نهائيا.
• لا يجوز أن يكون العمل المشارك في المسابقة خاضعا لأي مساءلة قانونية.
• على كل مشترك/مشتركة أن يرفق مع هذا الطلب نسخة من التحقيق المقدم عبر البريد الالكتروني لشبكة أريج info@arij.net.
• على كل مشترك/مشتركة إرسال نسخة من العمل التلفزيوني أو الإذاعي المقدم إلى صندوق بريد 942456 عمان 11194 الأردن، أو بالبريد السريع إلى العنوان التالي: 37 شارع أبو سفيان، الشميساني، عمّان- الأردن.

Highlights Work Outstanding Investigative Journalism in the Arab World

AMMAN, Jordan – Nominations are now being accepted for a new award for investigative reporting that has made a positive impact on Arab communities.

The Seymour Hersh Investigative Journalism Award, organized by Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), will recognize the best investigative reporters in 11 countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

“We hope that the ARIJ-ICFJ prize will encourage a new generation of Arab investigative journalists working against all odds to improve the lot of their local communities by exposing injustices,” said ARIJ executive director Rana Sabbagh.

The award is named for Seymour Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter for The New Yorker. Hersh is best known for work that exposed the Vietnam-era My Lai massacre by U.S. forces in 1968, and the Abu Ghraib prison abuses in Iraq in 2005. In 2009, Hersh received the ICFJ Founders Award for Excellence in Journalism.

Who can apply: Print, radio and television journalists from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.

How to apply: Send a cover letter, CV and samples of investigative work to info@arij.net. Submissions must include work that has been aired, broadcast or published in one or more of the 11 eligible countries in the past year.

Judging Criteria: Applicants will be judged on the basis of quality investigative work that has had a positive impact in one or more of the 11 eligible countries.

Application deadline: October 31, 2010.

Seymour Hersh? Award will be given to  first, second and third place winners. The first place winner will receive a computer. Second and third place contestants will get a digital camera and tape recorder. Winners will be honored  at a gala dinner in Amman during the third annual ARIJ conference for Arab investigative journalists on Nov. 26-28. The dinner will be held under the patronage of Jordanian Senate Speaker Taher al-Masri.
